3. If life is so short, why do we do so many things we don’t like and like so many things we don’t do?
A hard question, but interesting. Why do we do things we don’t like? I think that choice is difficult, changing your life course can be very challenging emotionally. We tend to live the life that our parents, teachers, society molds for us, a road that many don’t enjoy. It is easy to go with the flow, to just obey and go to your grave, unhappy, frustrated and spent. The things you want to do, your preferences, are the things you give up in a system that just can’t mold to you. Do you have something to tell when your parents say “Go to your room”, your teacher “Keep quiet and listen against your will what I have to say”, your boss “stay late and don’t complain”, your government “Give us half of what you earn and don’t complain”.
We all have been domesticated to give up our free will, our preferences, to serve. And that is why we have this question, it was done to us and we will do it to our children, it is a cycle. If we would break this chains and follow our dreams, relentless, even if we fail, again and again we would say to our children “Never give up, do what you want, don’t listen to anyone who says different”, even if we failed. If we don’t try, we will justify, and everything we’ll ever say is “I didn’t have a choice, the world is unfair, it’s no use son and daughter, obey, get a good master and live your life”.
